Senator Ted Kennedy Passes Away

By ConcernedConservative on August 26, 2009

The “Lion of the Senate” passed away last night. Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) was fighting a brain tumor for the past few months. He was a Senator for some 50 years or so. He left quite a legacy of people he affected and policies he had a hand in. Although he was very liberal, he was still an effective, influential politician. You have to respect that. His Senate vacancy will leave a lot of questions to be answered though. Now the Democrats don’t have the 60 votes to invoke cloture. His home state passed a law that requires vacancies to be filled by special election in five months. It will be interesting to see how his passing affects the rocky political landscape right now. Our regards and best wishes to his family. He may have been a crazy politician, but few people have created a greater legacy. It may be a long, long time until we see another Senator of Ted Kennedy’s caliber.
